GATE CSE 2024

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam is a national-level examination in India that tests the understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. It is commonly used for admission to postgraduate programs in IISc Bangalore, IITs, NITs, IIITs, and many other engineering colleges, as well as for recruitment in various public sector undertakings.

GATE 2024 is being organised by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

GATE CSE 2024 Exam Pattern:

The GATE CSE exam pattern consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type questions (NAT).

  • The test papers will be in English. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • The exam is of 3-hour duration.
  • It consists of a total of 65 questions, carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
  • The paper is divided into two sections: General Aptitude (15 marks) and the CSE (85 marks).
  • In the General Aptitude section, there are 10 questions (5 of 1 mark each and 5 of 2 marks each).
  • In the subject-specific section, there are 55 questions (25 of 1 mark each and 30 of 2 marks each).
  • For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking.
  • For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
  • For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ.
